Waiter/Waitress phrases (W): “Can I take your order?” “Are you ready to order?” “Would you like something to drink?” “How would you like your meat?” “Do you need anything else?” “Here is your bill.” Customer phrases ©: “I would like to order…” “What is the dish of the day?” “Can I have the menu, please?” “This is not what I ordered.” “Can I have the bill, please?”       restaurant to learn english If we want to be very polite when asking questions, it’s a good idea to start our questions with the word “could.” A substitute word is “wood” (it should be “would”). The magic word is “please.” Some words or phrases that make polite requests include: “Could you please recommend something to eat?” “Can I have a soda, please?” “Could I have a glass of camel’s milk, please?” “Could I please have a glass of orange juice?” “Would you please help me with my homework?”
